Copa + Glas

Bespoke

Commissioned for
where it belongs.

Every Copa + Glas commission begins with a conversation — about the space, the light, and what you are hoping to achieve.

We work with interior designers, architects, and private clients to design and make work that could not exist anywhere else. Each commission is led by Anthony McCarty, our Master Craftsman, whose four decades of architectural glazing experience means no brief is too complex and no scale too ambitious.

We can work from your specification or develop a design entirely from our studio. Detailed drawings and material samples are available at every stage. Every commission is made by hand in our East London workshop.

Hotel Café Royal, London

Café Royal Lightwell I
Café Royal Lightwell II

More than one thousand handmade copper and glass screens, each produced in our London studio and installed across four floors of the lightwell at Hotel Café Royal. Commissioned by David Chipperfield Architects — one of the capital’s most storied addresses, and one of our most demanding commissions to date.

The Craft

Four decades held
in a pair of hands.

Anthony McCarty has been working in architectural copper and glass since 1980. His restoration commissions include Big Ben, the Natural History Museum, and a glass dome in Saudi Arabia.

He leads every Copa + Glas commission from the first sketch through to final installation, working alongside our studio team of skilled craftspeople. His knowledge is not transferable in words. It is visible in the work.

Private Commission

Made for one
client, one space.

Our private commissions begin with a conversation. You tell us about the space — the light, the room, what you want it to feel like. Anthony sends material samples and drawings. Most clients know exactly what they want after a single exchange.

The Aura sconce was developed for a private client who wanted something that had never existed before, a wall light in copper and glass that changed the quality of light in a room rather than simply adding to it. That is the kind of brief we welcome.

Every private commission is different. Every piece is made once.

How a commission begins

01

Begin a conversation

Tell us about the project, the space, and what you are hoping to achieve. We respond to every enquiry personally, usually within 24 hours.

02

See the work

Material samples and drawings are prepared specific to your project. Anthony walks you through each decision — glass, copper finish, scale, proportion. Most briefs are resolved in a single exchange.

03

We make it

Once the brief is agreed, the studio begins making under Anthony's direction. We share progress at the midpoint, and the work is delivered or installed on completion. Terms are confirmed in writing before any work begins.
